Are you thinking about a career in teaching?

There are several routes into teaching, see details on the Department for Education website.

If seeking to teach in the primary or secondary sector in the local area:

College is a partner in a large Teaching School Alliance schools across Colchester and Tendring, including special, grammar and primary schools, called the North East Essex Teaching School Alliance (NEETSA).

Routes into teaching changed in 2013/14 and post-graduate applicants can now apply for Schools Direct training places in the primary and secondary sectors through NEETSA. Applicants then formally need to apply through UCAS.

Further details can be found on the NEETSA website and the Colchester Teacher Training Consortium website who coordinate recruitment and provide training. Please note that none of the Schools Direct placements are held in this College, however most will visit for a sixth form experience as part of their training.

If seeking to teach in post-16:

As College is in FE, where possible we provide placements for trainee teachers in the post-16 sector, generally working with the Colchester Institute as training provider. We also provide one or two days’ work experience for many who are thinking of training to teach. Anyone wishing to discuss these options in more detail should send an email to
