Farrer & Co Careers Talk

By Sally Fox, Law Department, 10 July 2015

Laura McKoy, an ex-student of the college, kindly came in to give a careers talk to a group of the colleges budding lawyers & legal professionals. Laura is a fantastic public speaker and explained about her career story so far. Since leaving the college to accept a place at Pembroke College, Cambridge where she completed her Law Degree, she then went on to study in Australia for her Masters in International Law. Laura found the opportunity to study and work abroad an excellent opportunity both educationally as well as great life experience. During her studies at Cambridge she was also lucky enough to be able to work with the Texas Defenders Service, a group who take on and review capital punishment cases in the US State of Texas. Whilst working on one of these cases Laura was able to spend some time in Texas with the team and able to go and meet the people she was helping to represent. Laura then returned to the UK and is currently completing her training contract at Farrer & Co in London and will qualify into their Banking Team.

Laura provided an inspiring talk which really engaged the college’s current students, making them think about other opportunities which may be available to them in their exciting future careers.
