#Stand Up for the 387

By Alison Shelley, English Department, 21 October 2016

Yesterday a group of 387 students (or thereabouts) gathered on a grassy bank  at the Sixth Form College to participate in our contribution to the  #Stand up for the 387 social media campaign.  The idea is to raise awareness of the 387 unaccompanied children in the Jungle in Calais, who are eligible come to the UK. The campaign is designed to put pressure on the authorities to process the paperwork necessary to get them over here and safe, especially in the light of moves by the French government to close down the Jungle.  There was impressive and enthusiastic student support despite the rain.  The campaign will continue through social media sharing of the photo!
