Sampling the pancakes!
Walking in the Calanques

Students of A2 French studying the play Rhinocéros, by Eugène Ionesco, decided to travel to France’s second city, Marseille, for the weekend, to witness what is probably the only live performance of the piece this year.  The focal point of the trip was a riveting performance in a tiny (40-seater) theatre, where students were welcomed in person by the director as honoured guests from England!  We also followed a friendly guide through the rocky paths and garrigue vegetation of the famous calanques under blue skies and above a sparkling Mediterranean, and sampled couscous and bouillabaisse as well as our own cooking at the quirky Hotel Vertigo tucked away in the narrow streets and markets of the Vieux Port.
