Zombie NationDate: 18/11/2005 Time: 10.55am Within the first year of living in this city I realised that you have to search out the best clubs and the best events and the best people, the ones that you remember as making up the best times of your life. I’ve been here three years now and have become such a regular in this freakish scene that word of these clubs and these events seems to reach me via the people I tried so hard to impress. One such event was ‘Zombie Crawl’ that happened on Halloween and was, overall, a great night. I decided to go as a Zombie Bride (purely because that meant I didn’t need to buy anything new, I just ripped up the pink bridesmaids dress that I’d bought for one of the more glamorous Stay Beautiful nights) and so persuaded Stompy that he wanted to go as my Zombie Groom. Stompy, Clive, Pickle and Emily all ended getting ready at mine somehow and we made such a mess that it took almost two days to clear it up – apparently that’s what you get when you’ve never used liquid latex before and you start fighting with fake blood…I suppose I should be grateful that none of it went on the camera, there’s no way I could afford to buy a new one and without it I’m screwed. We caught the bus to Oxford circus and I realised that, yes, it is possible to get stared at more than we usually do. I personally take this as a compliment to my newfound love of liquid latex. At least we managed to get a seat easily. Once everyone was assembled, roughly 100 zombies started staggering their way from Marble Arch, stumbling up to any glass fronted buildings we came across and pushing ourselves against them, moaning and groaning in such a way that easily did our outfits justice. Several pubs were visited along the way and, I’m unfortunately, the drunkest people started to dominate the whole group, practically harassing people that clearly wanted nothing to do with the whole charade. I decided to leave then, preferring to take with me the image of a totally wonderful Halloween, one where I had done something so completely ‘me’ but so completely new at the same time. Anyway, I’m supposed to be off to dinner with Pickle at ‘Food For Thought’ tonight, so I should go and make an attempt at looking presentable xx Celluloid Glamour Fairy
