Public Transport to and from the Sixth Form College,
Colchester, September 2009 to July 2010

The tables below give you a summary of the main options for public transport by bus or train for the academic year 2008/2009. NB. the Essex County Council Pass will only be granted by Essex County Council where their criteria are satisfied e.g. a student has to be a resident in Essex, travel in excess of 3 miles to College and the College is the nearest provider of the majority of their course at the time of enrolment.

Students with Special Educational Needs 2009/2010:
In certain circumstances the contribution can be waived providing you meet ECC criteria and are in receipt of an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). Evidence must be provided by sending either a copy of Contract Part One or the letter provided by the EMA Assessment Payment Body which is sent to students with their notice of entitlement.

Applications to be returned to Essex County Council by 26 June 2009. No refunds available for late applications, but applications can be cancelled so do apply if unsure.
£485 Payable in termly instalments Autumn £184, Spring £184 & Summer £117 or by direct debit if applying for whole year – initial deposit of £184 and 7 instalments of £43, deadline for direct debit application 20 July 2009.
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
Any student resident in Suffolk and within 75 minutes public transport journey to College can apply for a discretionary pass from Suffolk County Council - £126 per term. This pass can include bus to a station and then train. Apply directly to Suffolk County Council, Transport Section, Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich IP1 2BX. Telephone 01473 265064 ‘Explore’ (Suffolk Youth) Card - Suffolk residents under the age of 19 are entitled to apply for one of these FREE cards which give discounted travel on all bus and train services in Suffolk and across the Essex border to Colchester. Train Travel Information

Discounted rail travel is available on services operated by National Express East Anglia. Season tickets must be purchased directly from National Express East Anglia telesales office in Newcastle - 0845 600 7245, 08.00 – 22.00 on Monday – Fridays. (This is a lo-call number - charged at local rates). Payments are made by credit or debit card and the ticket will be posted directly to your home address. It may be possible to pay by cheque which will need to be posted to the telesales office in Newcastle (allow more time when ordering using this method of payment as cheques will need to be cleared prior to tickets being issued).

When purchasing a season ticket you will need a copy of your College ID card application form to quote the last 7 digits of the unique ID number that will appear on this card – this number will also appear on your season ticket.

Your College ID card application will be issued at enrolment. Please ensure that you have your photograph taken at enrolment for this purpose. An application for a season ticket can then be made by telephone later that day. National Express East Anglia will post the season ticket to your home address to be available for use from 8 September. Keep your copy of the College ID application form with your season ticket until the College ID card has been issued to you at College.

Applications cannot be made before you are enrolled as a College student.

The College photo ID card must be carried at all times when travelling.
