Battle of the Bands

Recently many Sixth Form College students flocked to Colchester Arts Centre to support the top five finalists in the college’s annual ‘Battle of the Bands’. The Hooks, The Argonauts, Chavindi, Mono Poly's and IntotheNorthSea all battled it out in a bid to become this year’s champions.
Indie band The Hooks, who opened the night and got the crowd going, were followed by The Argonauts, who also created an enthusiastic positive reaction from the crowd. Indie rock bands Chavindi and the Mono Poly's each took the stage as the night progressed and continued to perform confidently in front of the fans, filling the Arts Centre with an enjoyable, entertaining atmosphere.
Last to join the stage were alternative electronic band IntotheNorthSea who created an outstanding reaction from the crowd with their innovative techno sounds and went on to win the competition. The top three bands were The Hooks, The Argonauts and the winners IntotheNorthSea, who gave a very confident performance and could be ready to go mainstream tomorrow!
Other awards which were handed out, including ‘Best Vocals’ which was won by Tom Knights from The Mono Poly's. “Best guitarist”, which went to George Adams and “Best Drummer” for Dan Thomson (both from The Argonauts), alongside ‘Best Bassist’ William Osborn from The Hooks.
