Students at the Sixth Form College have just completed a busy week of environmentally themed events as part of the College's 'Green Week' organised by the College Environmental Committee. Events included displays from The Energy Saving Trust, cycling initiatives, recycled ethical fashion and an environmentally-friendly 'unplugged' acoustic event on the concourse, which culminated in a stunning vocal display from staff members Keith Ellis, Stephen Flowerday and Sue Court-Oak.
As Keith Ellis, Sustainability Coordinator who works closely with the Environmental Committee, pointed out: "There are so many green initiatives going on in college at the moment - it's been great to have the opportunity to showcase a few of these and to raise awareness of green issues in general, as well as raise several hundred pounds for The World Trust, a charitable conservation organisation that provides funds for partner organisations, so that they can purchase areas of rainforest to establish permanent wildlife reserves. This year's collection will go towards the Trusts Borneo Orang-utan appeal.
